Let’s make a BIG impact together this year!

Giving Tuesday is a week away, and we have an opportunity to work together to protect and care for Central Oregon's lands and waters. Join the Deschutes Land Trust by making a gift on Giving Tuesday—Tuesday, December 3rd—and your gift will be matched, up to $75,000! This matching gift challenge is thanks to the generosity of the Land Trust’s current and former Board, plus Keith Kelley. Having your gift matched on Giving Tuesday means double the lands and waters conserved, double the native plants and wildlife habitats cared for, and double the outdoor connections for our community!

In order to reach our goal, we need your help! Here are five simple ways you can make a real difference:

1. Create a Giving Tuesday fundraiser for the Deschutes Land Trust on social media. Use your own Facebook or Instagram account to set up a fundraiser where you ask your friends and family to donate to the critical work of the Deschutes Land Trust. It's an easy process! Together, we will launch fundraisers on Tuesday, December 3rd. Help us meet our match, broaden our support, and protect the nature of Central Oregon both now and for future generations.

To set up your Facebook fundraiser, follow this link: https://www.facebook.com/fund/DeschutesLandTrust/. You can customize your title, description, and photo, then click 'create' to start sharing your fundraiser through your own Facebook feed! Tip: If you make a gift to your own fundraiser, it will often show up in more friends' feeds.

Setting up your Instagram fundraiser is easy too! Follow these quick steps:

  • On Instagram, click the plus sign at the top to create a new story.
  • Select a photo to share. Bonus: Upload your favorite photo from a visit to a Land Trust Preserve!
  • Click to add a Sticker then choose the Donation Button.
  • Select the Deschutes Land Trust!
  • Create a title for your fundraiser. The auto-created title is “Deschutes Land Trust” and you can add a little information there! (Tip: Update the title to Giving Tuesday Fundraiser for Nature or something meaningful to you.)
  • Add any additional notes, then post to your story! We would love for fundraisers to go live on the morning of Tuesday, December 3rd, so they have the whole day to help raise money for Central Oregon's natural areas.
  • Share your fundraiser as a post on your timeline or a direct message with a personalized note to friends and family you think might also support our cause.

2. Share the Land Trust's Giving Tuesday match details with your friends and family. If you’d rather not create a social media fundraiser, you can still help! Share the Land Trust’s fundraiser on December 3rd by copying the link below and sharing it via email or text! Sharing with your loved ones is a proven way to help, and we’ll need all the support we can get to meet our goal this year! https://www.deschuteslandtrust.org/giving-tuesday

3. Make a donation and double your impact for local conservation! Make your own gift on Giving Tuesday and your gift will be matched, up to $75,000! Support the Land Trust and double your impact on Giving Tuesday!

If social media and fundraisers aren’t your thing (we see you), there are many other ways to support the lands that you love!

4. Help care for the lands you love (and the wildlife that live there). Volunteering with the Land Trust is a great way to support our work. From directly caring for the land by pulling weeds to helping out at our Tree Hunt that helps restore our forests to assisting in the office to increase our capacity, your gift of time is so appreciated! Check out our volunteer page or fill out our volunteer application to stay up-to-date on upcoming volunteer opportunities.

5. Share your love for Central Oregon's lands and waters! Tell your friends and family about why the Land Trust's work is important to you. Do you love the quiet forests at the Metolius Preserve? The mountain views at Indian Ford Meadow Preserve? The birding opportunities at Camp Polk Meadow Preserve? Celebrate these places by sharing your favorite Land Trust Preserve memories and experiences. Sharing these stories inspires us to keep conserving and caring for the nature of Central Oregon together!

No matter how you support the Land Trust this season, the Land Trust's staff and Board thank you for joining us to protect and care for Central Oregon’s lands and waters!
