The Deschutes Land Trust is excited to share that we’re working with land trusts across the country in a national effort to increase the rate of land conservation, and we need your help.
Did you know that every thirty seconds, we lose a football field of natural lands to roads, houses and poorly planned development? When land is conserved through a land trust, we can reverse this alarming trend. Every piece of land we conserve means:
- More protected habitat for plants and animals.
- Less carbon in the air we breathe.
- Healthier soil for our food.
- Cleaner water in our taps.
- Access to natural areas where we can explore and recharge.
Deschutes Land Trust has already conserved 18,763 acres of land, contributing to the more than 60 million acres of land protected by land trusts across the country. Now, as part of the Gaining Ground campaign, we’re helping to preserve another 60 million acres nationally by the end of this decade.
We can all have better lives, build stronger communities and a healthier planet when we work to protect our lands and waters. Learn more about Gaining Ground and how you can get involved.
