The Land Trust conserved Paulina Creek Preserve in 2022 and is in the process of developing management plans to guide the future stewardship of the land. As part of the planning process, we held community conversations with residents of La Pine and southern Deschutes County to discuss community values around the Preserve in 2023.
These community conversations included facilitated group events, a community survey completed by more than 100 people, and dozens meetings with community leaders, Tribes, organizations, and residents. The result is a set of community values for the Preserve that are outlined in our Paulina Creek Preserve Community Vision. As the Land Trust finalizes our management plan for Paulina Creek Preserve, we know that this shared vision will be an invaluable tool in helping shape the future of the Preserve.
We owe tremendous thanks to all of the individuals and organizations who contributed to this process! Their time and expertise were invaluable, and the collaboration and relationships that resulted from our work together will no doubt be long lasting. Going forward, the Land Trust will strive to uphold these community values and will continue to refine them, add new voices, and approach our conservation efforts with integrity, transparency and collaboration.
