Help our new native plants survive browsing deer! Land Trust volunteers and others worked hard this fall to get hundreds of new native plants in the ground at Camp Polk Meadow Preserve and Indian Ford Meadow Preserve. These baby plants are delicious appetizers for hungry deer in the winter. While we don't mind the munching, sometimes the deer (or other animals) pull the plants out of the ground, or frost pushes them up and out of the ground.

Join our Deer Patrol who walk planting areas at Camp Polk Meadow Preserve or Indian Ford Meadow Preserve to help put plants that deer have pulled out back into the ground. Two volunteers are needed for each Preserve.

We will provide an orientation to get you familiar with the planting areas and tips for replanting. Orientations will be on November 13, 2024, 10am-1pm or as arranged.

Deer patrollers will visit their assigned Preserve once a week to put plants back in the ground as needed from November 2024 through March 2025.

Please contact Sarah Mowry (sarah@deschuteslandtrust.org) to volunteer or for more information.

This volunteer opportunity is family-friendly!

Rating: Moderate physical activity that involves planting and digging in uneven ground.
